A former Deputy District Attorney, Gerald L. Fogelman has been defending adults, and juveniles, accused of criminal offenses, since 1978, when he left the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to become a Criminal Defense Attorney. He has extensive experience in the Criminal Justice System in the State of California and it’s inner workings. He has the respect of defense attorneys, prosecutors, judges, and probation officer’s that he works with and appears before. He has a reputation for honesty, and sincerity, in defending his clients. His obsessive thoroughness in investigation, preparation, and representation on behalf of his clients is respected, well known, and helps to insure a just resolution of his clients cases. Gerald L. Fogelman brings over thirty-one years of experience in defending those accused of crimes, both adults and juveniles, to every case he handles. Including Gerald L. Fogelman’s four and one-half years in the District Attorney’s Office, Gerald L. Fogelman brings a total of over 36 years experience in every area of the Criminal Justice System to every case he handles.
Mr. Fogelman represented the defendant in the first case in which the L.A.P.D. used a converted miliary vehicle with a battering ram (a tank like all terrain vehicle) to crash down the wall of a crack house, before evidence could be destroyed, to execute a Search Warrant.
In 1978, Mr. Fogelman represented the defendant in a case that resulted in the end of single officer responses to domestic violence calls. In that case, Mr. Fogelman argued for a change in the way jurors are instructed in cases involving a plea of Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, in order to give defendants in such cases a fair trial. That Jury Instruction became the law in this State and is given in every Sanity Phase trial in this State to this day. People v. Moore (1985) 166 Cal.App.3d 540.
